How to use TalkPlus Global

Making Calls

TalkPlus Global can be used from most phones in New Zealand (including landlines, payphones & mobile phones) and from 32 different countries while overseas. For the cheapest rates, use the relevant local access number from a home phone.

To make a call from New Zealand:

• Dial the Local Access Number (these are listed on the back of the rate sheets).
• Enter the PIN located under the scratch panel on the back of the card.
• Select a language option when using the card for the first time. (e.g. press 1 for English). Press 1 to confirm selection.
• Follow voice prompts (e.g. to recharge your card press 1, to make a call press 2).
• To make a call within New Zealand, dial the area code followed by the phone number (eg 04 for Wellington, then the number).
• To make an International Call, dial the Country code, the area code (if applicable) and the phone number (eg 00 61 for Australia, 2 for New South Wales, then the number).
• N.B. These cards must not be inserted in a card phone.

Call Back to New Zealand & 3rd Country Calling

To call NZ from Overseas:

• Dial the International Access Number for the country you are in (these are also listed below the local access numbers on the rate sheets).
• Enter the PIN from the scratch panel on the back of the card
• Follow the voice prompts.
• Dial the area code followed by the phone number (eg 04 for Wellington, then the number).
• Do not dial the international code when calling back to New Zealand. To access customer service when calling back to New Zealand call (09) 919 8518.

For calling to a New Zealand landline,the cost is:
25c p/min surcharge + rate to NZ.
For calling to a New Zealand mobile,the cost is:
25c p/min surcharge + rate to NZ mobile.

To call another country (3rd Country calling) or within the overseas country:

• Dial the International Access Number for the country you are in.
• Enter the PIN from the scratch panel on the back of the card
• Follow the voice prompts.
• Dial the number you wish to call, including country code, area code (if applicable) and the phone number (eg 00 61 for Australia, 2 for New South Wales, then the number). To access customer service when calling back to New Zealand call (09) 919 8518

For calling to another country, the cost is:
25c p/min surcharge + the rate from New Zealand to the destination country (landline or mobile)

* Calls to NZ only. All others are available to call anywhere in the world.

Roaming

Use of this card is not recommended from mobile phones that have global roaming activated, as normal roaming charges will apply.

Recharging
Once the initial value on your card is used up, or you are starting to run low, simply recharge your card using one of the following methods:

Over the phone (landlines only) using a Credit card** and get 15% extra credit FREE. It's so easy, just follow the voice instructions when using your card. A mimimum $10 top-up applies.

If your TelstraClear Phone Card features the Ezi-Pay logo, you can recharge your card at Ezi-Pay retailers throughout New Zealand. Ezi-Pay stores include supermarkets, bookstores, stationers, petrol stations, dairies and convenience stores.

Or you can buy $10 & $20 Recharge Vouchers from selected SmartPay and e-Pay retailers, which come pre-loaded with an extra 15% FREE credit. Simply follow the steps printed on the voucher to load the value to your phone card.

Voice Mail

Select option 3 when using the card for instructions on setting up a personal greeting or checking messages.

To leave a message in a mailbox:
Dial 09 916 8181 when in NZ or + 64 9 916 8181 from overseas & enter the mailbox number. This is located on the back of the card at bottom right, beneath the barcode.

To access messages:
Cardholders will be alerted that a new message has been left when they next use the card. Select option 3 to access messages. There is a charge of 10 cents each time messages are accessed.

One Touch Speed Dial

Save up to 9 different numbers using the numbers 1 to 9 on your phone key pad

For instructions, select option 4 when using the card.

Ensure that saved numbers have all the required area/national codes (eg 04 123 4567 for Wellington or 00 61 2 9123 4567 for Australia)
To use saved speed dial numbers, dial * then the directory location number followed by # instead of dialling a number.

Local Access

Simply dial the number for the local calling area you are in and then follow the instructions.
Please note that Local Access Numbers are not free to call from payphones or mobile phones.

Service provider charges may apply.

National Access

Use the National Access Number (015222) where local access is not available. Calls using the National Access Number incur an additional 10c per minute surcharge.
